This Sigma 100-400mm f5-6.3 DG DN Contemporary Zoom Lens for L-Mount, #58819666, is in great condition with minor handling wear. I rate it cosmetically a (9+). The zoom ring is smooth, but the focus ring is a bit rough. The autofocus and aperture function properly and the glass is clean and clear with no haze, marks, or fungus. There are a few faint specks of dust inside, but they do not affect image quality. This lens includes a Sigma lens hood, tripod mounting foot, front & rear caps, and the original box. Impressive reach in a compact telephoto zoom
Covering 100â400mm, this lens delivers serious zoom power for wildlife, sports, and distant subjectsâwhile remaining relatively lightweight and hand-holdable for its class.
-
Strong optical performance across the range
Advanced low-dispersion elements ensure high clarity, contrast, and controlled chromatic aberration throughout the zoom range.
-
Effective optical stabilization (OS)
Up to ~4 stops of stabilization helps produce sharper handheld shots at longer focal lengthsâcritical for telephoto shooting.
-
Fast, quiet autofocus for photo & video
Stepping motor delivers smooth, near-silent focusing with reliable trackingâideal for both action photography and video work.
-
Mirrorless-optimized DG DN design
Built specifically for full-frame mirrorless systems, offering better balance, improved AF compatibility, and optimized optical performance.
-
Feature-rich handling for serious shooters
Includes AFL button, focus limiter, zoom lock, and compatibility with the TS-111 tripod socketâenhancing usability in the field.
-
Lightweight for a 100-400mm lens
At around 1.1kg, itâs significantly more portable than many super-telephoto options, making it great for travel and long shooting sessions.
-
Consider the trade-off: variable aperture
f/5â6.3 limits low-light performance and background blur compared to faster telephoto lensesâbut keeps size and cost down.

Maintenance Tips
-
Use Hood + Tripod Support (TS-111)
Always attach the hood for protection and flare control. Use the TS-111 tripod collar for stabilityâessential at 400mm to reduce shake.
-
Keep Stabilization (OS) System Safe
The built-in optical stabilization (â4 stops) is sensitiveâavoid drops and always switch off before detaching the lens.
-
Clean Large Zoom Optics Carefully (67mm)
Use blower + microfiber onlyâprotect coatings that reduce flare/ghosting across the 100â400mm range.
-
Store Dry & Dust-Free
With a 22-element design, moisture or fungus can severely impact image qualityâuse silica gel in the case.
-
Avoid Zoom Pumping in Dusty Areas
Telephoto zooms can draw in dustâminimize rapid zooming outdoors to keep internals clean.
-
Use Focus Limiter & Switches Properly
Prevent unnecessary strain on AF motor by selecting correct focus range (especially for wildlife/sports use).
-
Protect Mount & Weather Seals
The mount is dust/splash-resistant, not waterproofâwipe moisture immediately after outdoor shoots.
-
Handle Weight with Care (â1.1kg)
Support the lens barrel when carrying to avoid mount stress on your camera body.
